Bears’ Luther Burden III Gets NFC North Rivals’ Attention

Luther Burden III, Chicago Bears

Chicago Bears wide receiver Luther Burden III is tracking for a bigger role this coming season and, with a full offseason program under his belt, figures to see a big rise in production on the field because of it.

Ahead of the attention that is expected to come his way in 2026, Burden is even getting noticed by his fellow wideouts from around the NFC North.

The respect is clear for the Bears’ rising star.

Luther Burden III Draws Attention From Bears Rivals

Bears WR Luther Burden III Gets Attention With Silent Message

Burden shared a slideshow on Instagram on Tuesday, and several of his Bears teammates filed into the comment section to express messages of support. However, Burden’s post also drew out Jameson Williams of the Detroit Lions and Matthew Golden of the Green Bay Packers.

Golden’s comment, a simple blood drop emoji, stands out in particular, with Burden including a picture of Darth Vader in the photodump.

He earned the moniker after choking Packers cornerback Keisean Nixon in Week 14.

Williams posted “ski ski,” and was among the sea of players to comment on Burden’s post, including Caleb Wiliams–who was in one of the images Burden shared–Colston Loveland, Jahdae Walker, and Maurice Alexander.

Burden and Williams (the Bears’ QB, not the Lions’ WR), showed a strong rapport as the 2025 season wore on, and that was with having to build their chemistry on the fly.

Bears’ Youth Movement Comes With Some Risk

The Bears traded DJ Moore to the Buffalo Bills this offseason. That shifted more expectation upon Burden and Rome Odunze. But Odunze revealed that his foot fracture from last season healed in a way that left callouses in what he termed a “new normal” of managing his health.

That shifts an even greater load onto Burden and Loveland, the Bears’ top pick and leading receiver last season.

In turn, the Bears must be sure to do whatever they can to keep Burden on the field.

Their wide receiver room does not have a ready-made option to step up in his place like they did in moving on from Moore. Kalif Raymond is a fine third option. Walker and rookie draft pick Zavion Thomas are intriguing.

The Bears decided to part with Moore largely due to their belief in Burden. He has encouragingly embraced those expectations.

That is all that Burden and the Bears can control at this point.
