DJ Moore Draws Attention With Telling Comments After Bears Trade

DJ Moore, Chicago Bears

The Chicago Bears’ biggest decision was their trade sending DJ Moore to the Buffalo Bills, shipping out a player acquired in a blockbuster deal back in 2023 and their WR1, at least in terms of name recognition.

Now, Moore is adjusting to another new team, which is his third in five seasons.

He has embraced the changes, but there remains some hurdles that the former Carolina Panthers star must clear.

Former Bears WR DJ Moore Gets Honest After Bills Trade

DJ Moore Still Adjusting to Bills After Bears Trade

The Bears dealt Moore and a fifth-round pick to the Bills for a second-round selection. The capital changed hands again afterward. Moore, who has played with former No. 1 picks Cam Newton in Carolina and Caleb Williams in Chicago, gets an MVP in Buffalo with Josh Allen.

“It’s going good,” Moore told reporters on May 26, during the Bills’ organized team activities, adding, “It’s gonna be perfect later on, but right now it’s still growing pains.”

Moore acknowledged that it will take time, but Allen has praised his new teammate.

The key to establishing that chemistry, Moore said, is “just being yourself. And then, coming in, putting the work in and studying the playbook. Right now, that’s what I’m doing, and getting to know the guys.”

He said that is what he has done his entire career.

“I really just be myself; that’s all it is to it,” Moore said. “Everybody just gravitates towards me, and we just go from there.”

Moore’s remarks have garnered attention for their candidness. They come on the heel’s of recent sentiments expressed by one of his former teammates, who will now be tasked with replacing him.

Luther Burden III Sends Strong Message About DJ Moore

Moore’s replacement is former Bears teammate Luther Burden III, whom Ben Johnson and Co. hope will not miss a beat in stepping up along with Rome Odunze to replace the veteran.

Burden did not mince words about feeling down by the trade and what Moore meant to him.

“DJ was a great player for us. A great leader for us, great leader for the room,” Burden told reporters on May 28, noting that someone has to step up, and that he is prepared to be the one who does.

Burden added that Moore showed him “how to be a pro. He was probably the first guy in here every morning I came in, and that was about 6:30, 7:00 a.m. So, just seeing how he takes care of his body, how he prepares himself for practice, games, stuff like that–and just picking his brain–it was great.”

While he was “sad” to learn the Bears traded a “great teammate,” Burden believes Moore is “in a great situation” in Buffalo with the Bills.

Burden and the Bears will travel to Buffalo to face Moore and the Bills in Week 15 this season.

There will surely be a lot of handshakes and hugs to be had on the field. That is after the game comes to an end, though. Before that, Moore is more likely to try making a point against his former team with his new one.
