Bears’ Coby Bryant Sends Clear Message After Noteworthy Comments

Coby Bryant, Chicago Bears

Coby Bryant is in his first season with the Chicago Bears, but the 2022 fourth-round pick of the Seattle Seahawks carries himself like the veteran and Super Bowl champion that he is, both on and off the field.

Bryant, who signed with the Bears in free agency this offseason, put those two facets on display on Wednesday and capped it with a fitting summary about himself.

His message bodes well for a Bears team that is looking to prove it is continuing to ascend.

Bears Teammates React to Coby Bryant

Bryant signed a three-year, $40 million contract with the Bears, cashing in on his Super Bowl run with Seattle last season. But Bryant made it clear on Wednesday that while teammates have asked about that experience, he is looking to forge a new path in Chicago.

He is off to a good start, showcasing his ability to move around in the defense, make plays on the ball, and conduct himself like a leader at the podium.

“Here 2 inspire,” Bryant captioned the reel of images on Instagram on June 10.

Fellow Bears corners Josh Blackwell, Kyler Gordon, and Tyrique Stevenson, as well as teammates Colston Loveland, KC Eziomume, Luther Burden III, and Zavion Thomas, all shared emojis in support of Bryant’s post.

Jahdae Walker posted, “UTW,” while Dontae Manning said, “Ez Pz [cardboard box emoji],” and Jaylon Jones added, “lead da way [helmet emoji].”

Reuben Hyppolite II posted “Dat 1!!!!!!!”

Bryant’s former Seahawks teammate Leonard Williams said he was “still getting used to this [single-tear face emoji].” Seattle’s Uche Nwosu posted “Richy at practice is craze ngl [battery meter emoji].”

Shaquille Griffin posted, “Can’t Hide It !!” along with exhaling and fire emojis, while Jake Bobo and Ty Okada joined in on the emoji fest.

“Not Mr. Richardddd $!!” Jamal Adams said, with Michael Dickson echoing the sentiment.

“POP IT !” posted K’Von Wallace, adding the chorus of supportive messages for Bryant as he embarks on a new chapter in Chicago.

Coby Bryant’s Leadership Could Be Critical Asset for Bears

Bryant noted his communications degree in response to a question about what he would do without football, saying that being a football analyst would be among the options he considered were it not for his playing career.

That otherwise innocuous remark adds telling context amid Bryant’s other comments, including speaking about the common fire he and head coach Ben Johnson share.

He also noted the same trait in cornerback Jaylon Johnson.

The Bears lost a lot of leadership this offseason. With Bryant in the fold, they are showing signs of replacing some of that early on. That is a quality that will not show up in the box score, but could certainly still be evident on the field.
