Bears Cut Ties With 2025 Draft Pick After Mysterious Development

Zah Frazier, Chicago Bears

The Chicago Bears are closing a chapter that never truly opened, deciding to part ways with cornerback Zah Frazier.

Frazier was a player the Bears touted for his length and athleticism, but who also took a circuitous route to the NFL. He was unable to showcase the skill set that drew attention to him, and that is why the Bears have moved on.

However, several questions remain.

Bears Waive CB Zah Frazier: Report

Zah Frazier Officially Fails to Launch With Bears

“The #Bears have waived DB Zah Frazier,” Bears Communications posted on X on May 7, officially ending the 169th overall pick of the 2025 NFL Draft’s tenure with his first NFL home and franchise.

Frazier dealt with a minor injury early last offseason. However, he missed the entire 2025 campaign with what the team would only identify as a “personal” matter.

Frazier has never spoken publicly about the issue.

The Bears could have carried Frazier for quite a while longer, with roster sizes at 90 players up until the end of the preseason, which could indicate the matter persists. There was optimism around his arrival. Frazier spoke candidly in May 2025 about the team looking to help him bulk up.

Zah Frazier Moving On

Frazier made a brief appearance at the start of one training camp session, but left the field soon after media was allowed to view the session. He could be seen in the locker room at various points throughout the season. But the Bears remained mum on his situation beyond saying that he was out. Players who do not practice are also off-limits to the media.

The Bears suffered through multiple injuries at cornerback last season.

They hope to be healthier at the top this season. They also drafted a replacement project, Malik Muhammad, in the fourth round of the 2026 draft. Frazier will presumably look to restart his NFL career elsewhere.
