Bears Set to Bring In Super Bowl Champion Playmaker

Caleb Williams, Chicago Bears

The Chicago Bears are still going through some of their options as they build the roster up for the offseason program and training camp following the 2026 NFL Draft, and Scotty Miller could be among the faces on the field when they get back to work.

Miller is a former sixth-round draft pick of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

He has been a contributor both as a receiver and on special teams, helping Tampa win a Super Bowl in 2020.

Bears Eyeing Ex-Buccaneers WR Scotty Miller

The Bears have interest in Miller, but they also face a challenge from head coach Ben Johnson’s former team, the Detroit Lions.

“Steelers free-agent wide receiver Scotty Miller is visiting today with the Detroit Lions,” ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported in a post on X on April 28. “He also currently is scheduled to tryout next week for the Chicago Bears.

Miller, who turns 29 in July, is a Barrington native.

The 208th overall pick of the 2019 NFL Draft, he had a career year en route to the title as Tom Brady’s safety valve, posting a career-high 501 yards and 3 touchdowns on 33 receptions.

Scotty Miller a Fitting Potential Addition in Chicago

Bears quarterback Caleb Williams has, of course, mentioned Brady among the players he watched growing up, and the two have formed a relationship as pro QBs. Miller would be a fitting addition, then, to the Bears’ roster.

The Bears already have Luther Burden III, Rome Odunze, and Jahdae Walker.

They also signed former Lions WR Kalif Raymond, who is more of a speedster/gadget option than the slot-maven Miller, and drafted Zavion Thomas in the third round this year.

The Bears do not have the kind of savvy route runner that Miller has been in his career. At the same time, he has not lived up to that 2020 season, with a 53-515-2 line over the past five seasons, split between the Buccaneers, Steelers, and Atlanta Falcons.
