Add D’Andre Swift to the list of Chicago Bears players who have been visible in recent weeks for the best reason.
Quiet as kept, Swift is coming off a career season after facing significant doubts about his future with the Bears. He helped key a resurgent season for the Bears with a leading effort in one of the best rushing attacks in the league in 2025.
Heading into a contract season, Swift continues not to take any shortcuts.

D’Andre Swift Prepping for Contract Season With Bears
Many of Swift’s Bears teammates have garnered attention for their offseason workouts, including quarterback Caleb Williams working with wide receiver Rome Odunze and Colston Loveland linking up with Luther Burden III.
On Sunday, Swift’s latest edit dropped.
“What’s understood don’t gotta be said,” digital creator Kris Sanchez posted on April 12, captioning the video of Swift working out in Frisco, Texas.
Swift’s session appears to have taken place at the Sports Academy at The Star. The video has “1942 Flows” by Meek Mill as a soundtrack. The timing of all of these workouts is good, with the Bears mostly healthy, as voluntary offseason workouts are set to begin in less than two weeks.
Swift is looking to follow up his career year for a potentially pivotal 2026 season.
D’Andre Swift Erased Doubts
Swift’s job security came into question last offseason amid the Bears’ rumored interest in other options and the hiring of Ben Johnson as head coach. Johnson was with the Detroit Lions when they traded Swift to the Philadelphia Eagles in 2023.
The Bears stuck with Swift, who rewarded them with a career-high 1,087 yards and 9 touchdowns on 223 carries.
That is fewer attempts than he had during his only other 1,000-yard campaign.
Swift had a 253-959-6 line in 2024, his first season with the Bears. His receiving work took a dip this past season. Swift still set new career highs in yards from scrimmage and combined touchdowns.
That was with 2025 seventh-round pick Kyle Monangai turning into a solid contributor in the offense by season’s end.
D’Andre Swift Entering Critical Season
Swift is in the final year of a three-year, $24 million contract. There has been no talk of an extension for the 2023 Pro Bowler, who turned 27 in January. The Bears have other financial decisions to make and plan for. But Swift figures to still have some prime years left and showed improvement between the tackles last season.
Another strong year for a Bears team that will not catch anyone by surprise with their ability this coming season could secure another lucrative deal for Swift, be it in Chicago or elsewhere.
What the Bears do in the 2026 NFL Draft could prove telling on that front.
