Fomer Chicago Bears linebacker Ruben Hyppolite II has undergone surgery, and it was successful.
Hyppolite shared photos of himself in a hospital bed wearing a NICE1 cold compression unit commonly used in post-operative rehabilitation.

“Everything happens for you, not to you. You don’t have to like it — it’s just easier if you do,” Hyppolite captioned a post on Instagram, including a couple of images of himself post-op. “Praising God for a successful surgery! Looking forward to this process. Thank you for y’all’s prayers — I’ll be right back!”
“Someone is judging you right now,” the popular quote Hyppolite shared said. “Someone else is totally inspired by you. Neither are paying your bills.”
Bears wide receiver Jahdae Walker posted, “God Speed!!” in the comments.
“Wishing you a speedy recovery! [heart emoji],” the Maryland Terrapins Football handle posted in support of the alum.
Denver Broncos cornerback Pat Surtain II–Hyppolite’s teammate at American Heritage-Plantation High School in Plantation, Florida–posted a pair of raised hands/praise emojis.
Bears Quietly Cut Ties With Ruben Hyppolite II, 2 Others
The Bears waived Hyppolite with an injury designation at the roster cutdown deadline in August. He cleared waivers and reverted to the team’s injured reserve. The Bears subsequently waived him on September 9.
There was no official announcement of the transaction, but it most means he and the club have agreed to an injury settlement.
“Random #Bears find: It appears they’ve reached injury settlements with three players. The one I find most interesting (unless it’s an oversight) is that LB Ruben Hyppolite is no longer listed on the team’s IR page. That typically means they’ve reached a settlement & released the player,” Bear Report’s Aaron Leming posted on X on September 17.
“The other two are CB Dallis Flowers & DE Jonathan Garvin.”
Pro Football Reference lists the Bears as having waived all three players on September 9. However, the team did not announce any of the transactions.
Moreover, the NFL’s transaction wire lists none of the deals as having taken place on September 9, but does list Beanie Bishop receiving an injury settlement on that day. PFR lists the Bears has having released Bishop on September 10.
All but Bishop were in their second seasons with the Bears. Hyppolite is the only former Bears draft pick, taken in the fourth round at 132nd overall in 2025. Garvin was a seventh-round pick of the Green Bay Packers, taken 242nd in 2020.
Bishop and Flowers were college free agents. The latter is from Chicago.
“Blessed to say the least [hands together praying emoji],” Flowers posted on X on September 11, which is his most recent post.
The Bears can sign any of the players back to their roster, provided a time set in their (presumed) respective settlements has passed plus an additional three weeks. It is unclear if that is in the plans for any of the parties involved at this point in time.
