Bears Make Announcement After Adding Former Cowboys Draft Pick

The Chicago Bears added more depth to their roster just as they begin their offseason program, signing former Minnesota Vikings cornerback Nahshon Wright. The Bears announced the deal with a post on social media.

Bears Sign Former Vikings CB Nahshon Wright in Free Agency

Nahshon Wright Joins Bears After Vikings Stint

“Wright on [call me emoji],” the Bears said in a post on X on April 8. “We have signed Nahshon Wright to a one-year contract.”

Wright is a big corner, listed a 6-foot-4.

He appeared in one game in 2024, logging all 15 of his snaps on special teams. The No. 99 overall pick of the 2021 NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys, Wright has started three of his 33 career games played. He has 1 interception in his career, which came in 2022.

The Vikings acquired Wright for fellow corner Andrew Booth – the No. 42 pick of the 2022 draft – in a trade with the Cowboys in August 2024.

Minnesota endured multiple injuries at CB in 2024, but Wright remained unable to see the field.

This offseason, the Vikings added former Philadelphia Eagle Isaiah Rodgers to go with Byron Murphy and Dwight McGlothern. They figure to get 2023 third-round pick Mekhi Blackmon back from a knee injury, too. That left Wright as the odd man out in Minnesota but a welcome addition for the Bears in Chicago.

Nahshon Wright Joins Crowded CB Group

One thing the Bears boast in droves is cornerbacks. Led by All-Pro and Pro Bowler Jaylon Johnson, the Bears’ CB room includes the promising Kyler Gordon and fellow youngsters Josh Blackwell, Tyrique Stevenson, and Terell Smith.

The Bears signed former New England Patriots corner Shaun Wade last week. They also added ex-San Francisco 49er Nick McCloud in March.

They also return reserve Ameer Speed in a crowded but talented group.

If nothing else, Wright’s signing could serve as a strong indicator of what position may not be part of the Bears’ draft plans when the 2025 session begins on April 24. Combined with their other moves and comments, the Bears’ plan could be gaining clarity.
