Bears’ DJ Moore Signs History-Making Contract Extension: Report

DJ Moore, Bears Locked In Through 2029

?DJ Moore and the Bears reached agreement on a four-year, $110 million extension that includes $82.6M guaranteed. The deal was negotiated by Drew Rosenhaus, Jason Rosenhaus and Robert Bailey. Moore now has had the first 10 years of his career years guaranteed, a first in NFL history for a wide receiver,? ESPN?s Adam Schefter reported on X on July 30.

?At 27 years of age, DJ Moore now is contractually tied to the Bears through the 2029 season.?

The Bears acquired Moore in a trade with the Carolina Panthers that sent the No. 1 pick ? which ultimately turned into Bryce Young ? out.

He set career highs with 96 receptions for 1,364 yards and eight touchdowns in 2023. It was the fourth 1,000-yard season by a Bears receiver since 2014. He was also durable, starting all 17 games for the third straight season. Moore?s season ranks eighth in catches and fourth in yards.

His new contract comes amid several of his peers landing new deals with their teams. Moore’s contract ranks fifth in total value and third in total guaranteed money.

Bears’ Work Not Done Yet

The Bears still have to address Keenan Allen, who changed agents in the final year of his contract; a four-year, $80.1 million pact.

Bears general manager Ryan Poles has been consistent with rewarding players who have performed, inking several players to new contracts. The list includes cornerback Jaylon Johnson, defensive end Montez Sweat, and tight end Cole Kmet.

This is in addition to the slew of free agent signings over the past two offseasons.

Moore has been his typical consistent self during training camp practices. He will not be suiting up for the Hall of Fame Game, though, per Head Coach Matt Eberflus after Tuesday?s practice. They will have a split session on Wednesday before heading off to Canton for the matchup versus the Houston Texans.
