Chicago Bears wide receiver DJ Moore is off to a slow start this season along with Justin Fields and the rest of the offense. But he says the team is still battling and standing behind Fields.
Jaquan Brisker Backs Justin Fields
Moore is not the only one who has supported Fields in the locker room. Safety Jaquan Brisker also weighed in on the embattled quarterback who some league insiders have suggested could be on borrowed time in Chicago
“That’s my guy,” Brisker said on September 22. “Just really just be himself. I played him in college so I know what it’s like to study against him and things like that. I just told him, ‘You been throwing the ball since you was a baby’. So ain’t nothing new. Just be him, and just continue to just stay focused and work on his craft.”
Bears coaches talked up the third-year passer ahead of the season as he claimed he would be the first quarterback in franchise history to pass for over 4,000 yards in a single season.
A tougher-than-anticipated opening slate has put a damper on that optimism from the outside.
Their locker room has seemed as loose as ever, though, perhaps as good of a sign as any that they have not folded under the pressure. With 14 games to go, there is plenty of time to rebound and they have some games that still appear winnable if they can clean up the myriad execution issues and get healthy.
