Caleb Williams Garners Attention in New Video Ahead of Bears Training Camp

Caleb Williams, Chicago Bears

When the Chicago Bears open training camp later this month, it will be the first time that most fans will get to see new head coach Ben Johnson’s offense and the coaching staff’s impact on second-year quarterback Caleb Williams, who is already hard at work.

A new video shows the No. 1 overall pick of the 2024 NFL Draft on a field, slinging the pill.

He is wearing shorts and a t-shirt, but that is close to what he had on during the offseason program and will wear on many days during training camp. Still, he drew plenty of attention.

Williams did not appear to be at the Bears’ facilities, which league rules almost certainly prohibit at this time of the NFL calendar.

“Caleb Williams staying ready for that sophomore season,” the Sleeper Bears handle posted on X on June 29.

“#Bears QB Caleb Williams training during the offseason [looking eyes emoji],” the Chicago Bears Network posted.

“Caleb Williams putting in work [triumphant emoji],” the Bears Film Room posted. “20 days until QBs report to training camp.”

Intrigue Abound for Bears Training Camp

Johnson said he and the coaching staff threw a lot at Williams during the Bears’ offseason program. The QB noted that Johnson is a stickler for the details, which has been a theme of the new coaching regime as a whole and a good sign after the Bears’ often lost due to overlooking the details last season.

Bears rookies will report for training camp on July 19, while veterans will show up on July 22.

What Williams is doing now is far from inconsequential to the work in store for him during training camp. Johnson made it clear that players were not to show up in training camp looking to get into shape, but rather they should show up ready to go.

The head coach said they were not prime time ready just yet. They open the regular season against the Minnesota Vikings on Monday Night Football.

However, he also said he is eager to hit the ground running in training camp, Williams included.
