Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams has not gotten to throw any passes to one of his newest weapons, tight end Colston Loveland. However, he appears excited about the opportunity, which should come in training camp in a few weeks.
Loveland was a non-participant in the on-field portion of the Bears’ offseason program due to a shoulder injury that required surgery in January.
He posted a string of pictures on Instagram of his offseason working, getting Williams’ attention.

Williams shared an image of Loveland, dressed in all black, which led off the Bears rookie’s reel that appears to be from multiple workout sessions.
Williams included the song “Go Crazy” by Gunna, an apt suggestion for the dynamic target.
Loveland is 6-foot-6, and while he can do the job as a blocker in-line when called upon, he will undoubtedly make his hay in the passing game as a versatile, potential mismatch-exploiting weapon in Bears head coach Ben Johnson’s offense.
Loveland joins a chorus line of Bears players sharing their offseason workouts, including Williams. They are seemingly increasing in frequency, though his activity has been at a similar level for weeks.
Johnson said that Loveland has done well in his classroom work.
However, the coach declined to commit to having the youngster on the field for the start of training camp. For Bears rookies, that is on July 19. Loveland, however, said that is his plan and has lamented having to miss so much time.
Colston Loveland Anxious to Get Back Into Action

Loveland said that he was eager to get back to the physical aspects of practice and, ultimately, games. He was restricted during the offseason program, donning the red non-contact jersey indicating his status.
“I’m just excited to be more hands-on and start getting out there,” Loveland told Clocker Sports in May.
“I’m itching to go out there for sure.”
Johnson said that getting Loveland healthy was a priority for the Bears. But the coach’s comments about wide receiver Luther Burden III, the No. 39 overall pick of the 2025 NFL Draft, also apply to Loveland. The Bears selected the latter with the No. 10 pick.
“You’re losing valuable time. Valuable time with your coaches, valuable reps with your teammates, the ability to build the trust that we’re talking about,” Johnson told reporters in June. “For a young player, it’s really where you get the most reps, and you can get better in a hurry that way.”
